Creating a Diwali makeup look
1. Hydration
Before applying any makeup, it’s important to start with hydration. I’m applying a generous amount of moisturizer to my face to improve skin elasticity and texture.

2. Primer
Next, apply primer. It hydrates and nourishes the skin while also creating a smooth, flawless base.

3. Foundation
I’m using a medium-coverage foundation today. Every time I want a clean canvas without the heaviness, I reach for this one. It gives a radiant finish and lasts all day without feeling cakey.

4. Concealer
Next, apply concealer to areas with uneven skin tone, like under the eyes. Let it sit for a minute or two to settle in while you work on contouring. This helps ensure better coverage when you blend it later.

5. Contouring
For contouring, I’m using a multi-stick bronzer. Even though it’s labeled a bronzer, it works perfectly for contouring too.
Since we don’t want a heavy, chiseled look for this makeup, we’ll use just a bit to create a natural dimension.

6. Blend concealer
Now that your concealer has dried slightly and become a bit tacky, it’s time to blend.

7. Setting with powder
Anushka’s makeup has a matte finish, so lightly set your face with translucent loose powder to keep everything in place. However, if you look closely at her makeup, you’ll notice her high points are beautifully highlighted.

8. Baking
After setting your face, "bake" the high points of your face to really lock everything in place.
To bake, apply a generous amount of translucent powder to the high points of your face — under your eyes, along the jawline, and on the bridge of your nose.
Let it sit for 2-3 minutes, allowing the body heat to set the makeup.
Once you’re done with your eye makeup, dust off the excess powder.

9. Brows
Anushka’s brows are quite full, and it looks like she used a powder for this. To recreate this, use a darker brown eyeshadow to fill in your brows.

10. Eyeshadow
Her eye makeup is very simple, with a soft brown wash in the crease.
For that, use a deeper brown eyeshadow and apply it to the crease to add some warmth. Keep blending and layering the shadow until you’re happy with the intensity.

11. Lower lash line
Next, use the same brown eyeshadow with a smaller, tapered brush and apply it along your lower lash line. This adds some definition and a little bit of smokiness.

12. Inner corner highlight
Use a highlighter with a small tapered brush to add a little shimmer to the inner corner of your eyes. This will help open up the eyes and give a subtle glow.

13. Eyeliner
Tightline your top lash line first by applying eyeliner directly into the roots of the lashes to make them appear fuller.
Then, apply a thin line of eyeliner along the top lash line.

In the lower waterline, Anushka uses a nude pencil, but I prefer to use a metallic pencil that matches my skin tone.

14. Mascara
Her lashes are natural-looking but defined, so apply a good coat of mascara to both your top and bottom lashes. The goal is to add volume and length without overdoing it.

15. Brow bone highlight
To finish off the eyes, highlight just underneath your brow bone with a small amount of highlighter.

16. Blush
For blush, we want something light and warm-toned, just enough to give a subtle flush of color to the cheeks.
We don’t want it too intense, so a light application will keep it fresh and natural.

17. Lip liner
Start with a lip pencil to define the edges of your lips.

18. Lipstick
Next, fill in your lips with a soft, neutral lipstick. The key is to keep it simple and subtle, allowing the eyes and face to be the focus of the look.

19. Set your makeup
To ensure your makeup lasts all day or night, finish off with a setting spray. This will lock everything in place and add a nice dewy finish to the skin.
Curling the hair
20. Curl hair
The final step is to curl your hair to complete the look. This soft, effortless curl complements the makeup and brings everything together.

And here’s the finished look!
Would you try a fluorescent lime green sari? When I first thought about it, I wasn’t sure, but now that the look is done, I absolutely love it!
The bold sari is balanced perfectly by the soft and subtle makeup that enhances the features.
